IMHO, one of the best Bluetooth headsets you can buy (after getting the swing of putting it on and off) is the Aliph Jawbone. Today the announced a new model that has several improvements that look like they actually listened to what consumer wanted changed. The new model is much smaller and more fashionable.

At long last Tesla Motors has opened its first dealership in LA. The $109,000 all-electric sports car has just started shipping to the people who first preordered them. So you can certainly go test drive one in LA now (with more dealerships set to open in other cities in the coming months), but expect to wait 15 months to get one if you decide to place an order. We’re not talking about Honda Civics here, after all. [CNN]

x62.jpgA sports car? An economy car? A pickup truck? A genuine off-roader? A soup ladle? The reincarnation of an ‘87 AMC Eagle? Oh wait, maybe the last one. Anyway, the official pre-ad campaign press release reveals that Spartanberg’s finest– the X6 “SportyActivity Coupe” — is about to get the Star Wars Episode IV “A New Hope” treatment. The company will project a holographic image of Bimmer’s new car truck SAC in the lobby of four prominent Wall Street enclaves (so to speak), complete with the message “You must see this droid safely delivered to Alderaan.” The ad agency that devised this hi-tech, what’s the word? Solution, clearly understands the vehicle’s WTF factor. “The BMW X6 doesn’t look like anything BMW has ever produced — you have to see it to believe it,” said Duff Stewart, President and COO of GSD&M Idea City. “Our goal was to put this amazing vehicle in front of its best prospects and stop them in their tracks.” How come those ad guys never say “and buy it?” BTW: BMW says the X6 is “Coupe’s evil twin.”

Oh Unkie Walt, you toy with us so. Just a couple days after promising that the 3G iPhone would be out within 60 days, the Moss-man is saying that he was simply making a prediction based on the same data as the rest of us: price cuts, dried-up inventory, and all kinds of rumors. That’s not at all what it seems like on the tape, but sure. Walt also thinks that a little meta-media-analysis is due here, asking Silicon Valley Insider, “If I knew when this date was, why would I announce it in the middle of a sentence at the Finnish embassy, rather than report it in the Wall Street Journal?” Excellent point, but you might want to be a little more careful the next time you flatly declare “The iPhone will be 3G in 60 days” with no caveats and the cameras running, okay?

Everybody and their brother has sent me the video of neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor’s recent talk at TED. One morning a few years ago, a blood vessel exploded on the left side of her brain. That gave the scientist an insider’s look at how her own brain operates. In particular, she came out of the experience with some fascinating insights into the differences between the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere. It’s an 18-minute lecture — not counting the standing ovation she receives at the end.

Perhaps the ECS G10IL could use some help in the naming department, but it certainly isn’t having any trouble bringing a bit of class to the subnotebook market. In addition to those stylish good looks, the G10IL sports a webcam, HSDPA 7.2, three USB ports, Ethernet and a 56Kb modem (joy of joys!). No mention is made of WiFi or Bluetooth, but at least the former seems a given. Other details are slim, but the price is supposedly “sub-$500.” Perhaps this “race to the bottom” won’t be so horrible after all.
